NXT Preview - December 5, 2020

NXT rolls around again after a less-than-stellar RAW and a solid Smackdown. The high point of the wrestling week, though, is still on Wednesdays and NXT is up for another great looking episode. What does the Black & Yellow brand have in store? Find out below!

As always, a recap of last week’s episode to begin.

  • Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. The Mighty. The heels beat up the good guys after.
  • EC3 def. Marcel Barthel.
  • Mia Yim def. Vanessa Bourne.
  • Lars Sullivan def. Keith Lee

As always, I’m Parker Love – here with your weekly NXT Preview!

The Main Event

Tommy Sports-Entertainment returns tonight in what’s sure to be a short, humble promo after his successful title defence versus the Velveteen Dream. Ciampa should hold onto the title, forever and ever and ever. Blackheart and Goldie have been, well, gold since the title win. I still say, best heel in the business.

Will the former Patrick Clark demand another shot, after coming so close to winning the gold?

Or will Aleister Black demand the rematch he never got?

Will Johnny Gargano demand another shot, for reasons beyond anyone else other than him?

Will the long awaited title shot come to Kona Reeves?

There are no shortages of challengers for Tommaso Ciampa - tonight we’ll see what’s next for the champ.

Other Segments

An old rivalry is renewed tonight, as Dakota Kai takes on Shayna Baszler. With the history these two have, and WWE’s love of having the loveable underdog go over the dastardly heels, will we see Dakota Kai begin her ascent up the ladder in NXT?

Doubtful.

I do expect Kai to beat the Queen of Spades someday. Whether it be in a one-on-one matchup, or the 6-woman tag match their building too, someday she’ll get the win. But, to quote Aragon it’s not this day. Expect Shayna Two Time to get by with a little help from her friends again.

Matt Riddle’s in action tonight, taking on another one of NXT’s newest signees - Punishment Martinez. The former ROH TV Champion is starting to make his rounds on the NXT house show circuit, and reviews have been solid. Good enough to beat Riddle? Again, doubtful, but this match should be solid. Martinez has a look that WWE will love along with a steady hand in the ring. The King of the Bros does need something to do after taking down Kassius Ohno in record time though.

The Forgotten Sons are up against Humberto Carillo & Raul Mendozza in tag team action for tonight. Honestly, I was digging the Forgotten Sons. Then they lost against Heavy Machinery, the bane of my existence. Now? Meh. This’ll be a match, and that’s all

Odds & Ends

  • Dominik Dijakovic’s promo last week was fantastic. Curious to see what NXT does decide to do with him.
  • I doubt we’re getting a conclusion to the fantastic Nikki Cross vs Bianca Belair feud. Sad!
  • It seems that we have a rough idea who will challenge for every title other than the NXT North American Championship. Who’ll step up to Ricochet?
  • Roderick Strong‘s return to EVOLVE is official - and I’m stoked. Taking on Austin Theory & Fabien Aichner? Count me in.
  • To end on a bit of a sad note, Rest in Peace Tommy Billington. Gone too soon.

That’s it for this week’s episode! What do you think? Make sure to stay tuned to Win Column Sports by following us on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
