REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN:  In a release on the company’s Facebook page, High Impact Wrestling has announced that it will be closing its doors later this fall.

In the announcement, the promotion announced that their upcoming shows scheduled for this Friday, September 20, in Regina and next Friday, September 27 in Saskatoon, have been cancelled.

Following their October 25 show in Regina featuring ECW alumni Super Crazy, one of Saskatchewan’s longest-running promotions will be closing their doors. Despite an exodus of talent from the promotion earlier this summer, this announcement was unexpected and comes as a blow to the wrestling scene. In the post, HIW Executives expressed their gratitude for everyone who was a part of HIW Nation.

“We would like to thank each and every one of our fans who have supported us over the last 21 years for every cheer, boo, or show of support you have ever given us. We hope that we were able to give something back to you all in the form of entertainment, something that helped you feel good about things, even if just for the 2 and a half hours you spent with us. We appreciate you.”

“We look forward to one last huge party with all of our closest friends on October 25th at the Hungarian Club in Regina! Help us celebrate 21 years of High Impact Wrestling!”

However, with the emergence of Prairie Pro Wrestling as well as the already-established Ringside Wrestling, fans in Saskatchewan will be able to get their fix of action.

Stay tuned to the WCSN for more details as they become available.
