BREAKING: Pentagon Jr & Fenix pulled from October TV Tapings
August 10, 2018
As first reported by Daily DDT, SE Scoops & Wrestling Inc, Major League Wrestling (MLW) has pulled independent wrestling stars Pentagon Jr and Fenix from their October television tapings, “Fury Road”.
While missing a TV taping doesn’t seem like breaking news, this story – coupled with the fact the real life brothers are telling promoters they may not be able to honor dates they’ve booked in 2019 – will only intensify rumors that these two may be WWE bound. (Source: The Wrestling Observer)
The official statement from MLW is as follows:
This match replaces the originally scheduled Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix vs. LA Park & El Hijo de LA Park bout. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix will not be able to attend the October 4 show. With fans demanding an LA Park vs. PCO encounter, matchmakers quickly moved to sign the new match.
These two are undoubtedly two of the hottest name on the indies. Pentagon has been prominently featured in both Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling, most recently winning the Impact World Championship from Austin Aires. Fenix has also made his mark in the two promotions, with both featuring in Lucha Libre AAA as well.
While nothing is concrete, this certainly is an interesting sign. While this would only add to the bevy of talent in WWE/NXT, this would be a huge blow to Impact, Lucha Underground and the entire independent scene. Entering WWE opens a bevy of dream matches for the pairing: to me, I feel Pentagon could face off against big names such as Roman Reigns, John Cena, and more, while Fenix can face some of the more agile wrestlers to help suit his style – think Seth Rollins or Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas.
