CALGARY, AB: One of Alberta’s premier promotions has announced their impending return.
Last week, Hart Legacy Wrestling announced their return to the Albertan independent scene, with the promotion scheduled to tour throughout February and March 2020.
“Hart Legacy Wrestling is built upon the same principles that Stampede was formed,” commented head promoter and owner Stacy Angel in a statement to the WCSN. “(It) got its name from a conversation Smith and I had. We chose it to carry on the legacy that Calgary fans were a part of - keeping fans in their seats week after week in different venues, year after year, by producing real talent and real wrestling across Canada and the States.”
“Hart Legacy Wrestling’s goal is to develop a world-renowned company based out of Canada (combining) forward-thinking and old school techniques.”
Thus far, three shows have been confirmed for the promotion’s first extended run since early last year. On February 20th and 21st, Hart Legacy will host a pair of shows in Calgary and Wabasca, respectively. The promotion has also announced a second Calgary date, currently scheduled for March 26th.
More dates are expected to be announced in the near future.
The events mark the first HLW shows since February 2019. Despite the success of the shows, the promotion went on hiatus for the remainder of the year. However, says Angel, a large part of that was simply doing right by the legacy of the Hart’s.
“(Stu’s are) some mighty big footprints to follow,” she continued. “Stu delivered quality and quantity to keep the spirit of wrestling alive for many years in both Calgary and worldwide.”
“We found the answers (we) were looking for in doing events that would work better for us and the fans so we could keep running events without failing,” she concluded.
Despite the lack of involvement from any of Stu’s children, the promotion will still prominently feature at least two members of the famed Hart family. Both Julie Hart and former MLW star Teddy Hart will be joining HLW, assisting with the promotion’s business operations.
“Teddy and Julie Hart are my business partners,” Angel commented. “We’ve run events together and studied successful events in the States and Canada.”
Not only will Teddy be involved in the business operations for the promotion, but will be one of their feature stars. Hart has already been confirmed to be wrestling on HLW’s three upcoming shows, with a number of other stars confirmed for the impending dates. Currently scheduled to take part in the events are names like Torrin Hart, Kat Von Heez, and Kyle Sebastian among others.
“I think our card is pretty stacked with phenomenal talent so presently we are happy with it,” Angel said of her current roster. However, she didn’t close the door on any future stars wrestling for HLW.
“Will we bring in other brand names in the future? We always do our best to keep the fans happy so most definitely.”
Tickets for Hart Legacy Wrestling’s upcoming dates are currently available through the promotion’s website. Additional dates are expected to be announced in the near future.
