At the start of the day only France was through to the next round. Australia was sitting on one point, while Denmark was sitting on four. Peru was already eliminated from the next round.

The first half was contested tightly by both teams with neither wanting to make a mistake. Eriksen was able to have a ball fed to him behind the defense in the 29th minute. A combination of the defender and the keeper kept it out.

The second half offered very little. The appearance of both teams made it look as though were comfortable with a draw, and that’s how it ended as the two ended in a 0-0 tie - the first of the World Cup.
Australia 0 - Peru 2
In the 10th minute, Jedinak got a bit lucky ,only getting a yellow card with a high foot challenge. In the 18th minute, Peru broke the tie with their first goal of the World Cup. A cross found Carrillo at the top of the box who volleyed it in.

Shortly thereafter, Australia put on some pressure with Juric going through a few Peruvian players and getting a low shot on target. The shot was saved by Ryan with his feet.

Early in the second half, Peru was able to double their advantage. Guerrero found the ball after a deflection and puts it in.

Australia’s hopes of advancing are crushed by Peru who wins 2-0.
The day ends with France taking the top qualifying spot and Denmark taking runners-up.
