NXT Preview - October 10, 2020 - Dunne vs Cole vs Ricochet
War Games 2 is on the horizon for NXT, and the build seems solidly underway. The card is beginning to take shape, with only the women’s title in question - but that will be answered after Evolution! Regardless, the last set of tapings is nearly finished, but we still have some NXT to preview!
As always, a recap of last week’s episode to begin:
- Lacey Evans def. Candace LeRae
- Tommaso Ciampa warns Velveteen Dream to back off.
- The Forgotten Sons def.some Jobbers
- Johnny Gargano def. Tony Nese
- Lars Sullivan def. EC3
As always, I’m Parker Love – here with your weekly NXT Preview!
The Main Event
What, you thought Ricochet vs Pete Dunne was good enough? Nope, let’s add Adam Cole to the mix. Oh, and let’s make it for the North American Championship, okay?
NXT is just too talented. Giving this match away on free TV shows the kind of talent they have available, and holy shit this match should be incredible. Pete Dunne gets to continue his quest to get every geographically based belt he can, Adam Cole gets his rematch for his lost championship, and Ricochet gets to flush his character out as a fighting champion. Win-win-win right? Even more so, perhaps this can further the potential multi-team match for a headline PPV coming up?
If this isn’t enough of a reason for you to tune in, I can’t help you.
Other Segments
Keith Lee takes on Kona Reeves tonight. This was made after a backstage confrontation where Keith Lee said Kona’s had the finest set of losses in NXT. I continue to not care whatsoever about Kona Reeves. I hope for a quick squash a meaningful program soon with anyone.
In 5th grade, I was suspended for fighting.
When the teacher asked me why I punched little Patrick, I told her “because little Patrick has a face I want to punch.”
Twenty three years later, and I find myself in a similar position.

Velveteen Dream responds to NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa tonight. It’s been a small back & forth thus far, but it’s been extremely entertaining. Need further proof? Check out their twitter exchanges. The wrestling community is thrilled about Dream being the defacto babyface in this feud, and Tommaso Ciampa can always find a way to get booed. What will Dream do tonight in response to the Champ?
Nikki Cross knows. She’s said it multiple times, why has nobody asked her what she knows? What does a horseshoe do? Is anyone listening to me? Regardless - I know the answer is no - she has a date with Bianca Belair next week. What will Cross do until then? Will she talk with William Regal? Will she reveal what she knows to everyone? Or, will it remain a mystery for one more week?
The Championship Scene
War Raiders vs Undisputed Era next week as well too. Colour me excited! The former War Machine is one of the most talented tag teams in the world, with both Hanson & Rowe being extremely good wrestlers. Plus, they’re taking on Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong? Tune in for this one, folks.
Last week, we got a video package of Shayna Baszler in her fight camp. With her match against Kairi Sane at Evolution coming up, will we hear from the pirate princess? We saw two other horsewomen in the fight camp for Baszler (Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir), will the Pirate Princess be looking for some backup herself?
My Thoughts
- I loved the promo video for Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch last week. With the performance they had against Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong, I think they could be in line for a major push later.
- What’s next for EC3? Personally, I see his act working better on the main roster. Similar to Elias. There just isn’t much room for him as of now.
- With regards to tonight’s main event. Does anyone know how injured Pete Dunne is? He was pulled form shows this weekend, but no announcement this far from any parties.
That’s it for tonight! What do you think about tonight’s episode? Let us know by commenting, or by following us on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
