NXT Preview - November 29th, 2017 - Sane vs Royce
Another week, another week of NXT: Pre-Tapings. As always, I’m @Parkman15Love here to walk you through the “developmental” brands weekly show, announced matches, what i expect, and all that fun stuff! So without further adieu..
What we know:
The Headlining match for tonight’s episode features Kairi Sane vs Peyton Royce. This is twofold - a continuation of the feud between the iconic duo (Sane beat Billie Kay before TakeOver), as well as a beginning to a build for Ember Moons first challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship. In this writers humble opinion, I would love to see a feud between the Icons and Moon: Face vs Face (Moon vs Kairi, in this instance) championship feuds are fewer and far between in this day and age, and I do maintain that championship contenders need to be built up? Need proof of this?
And there you have it.
I believe The Pirate Princess could use a couple feuds before her eventual championship opportunity. I would expect Royce to win, with the added motivation to see Kairi lose from Billie Kay. Should be a solid women’s match if given the time.
Another match announced was the Street Profits vs Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli in tag team matches. I expect a fairly sound match but nothing exceptional. The Street Profits are fairly entertaining and a solid tag team, but Moss and Sabbatelli are boring. Seriously, they started feuding over walking closely to a sports car. As fellow writer Hayden Love puts it…..
The championship picture
In the UK Division, we saw former champ Tyler Bate and Trent Seven challenge current champ Pete Dunne to find a tag team partner. This is due to the Bruiserweight walking out after an attack from the Undisputed Era a few weeks back. British Strong Style will always put on a good match, but it never did give us a date for this match. This author can’t give you an exact specification of what will happen, but I would expect some sort of implication for this match: Will a new #1 contender be crowned for the UK Championship? Will Moustache Mountain be given a feud in WWE?
Expect to see at least one of the major championships to have a start to a build to their next feud. My money would be in the NXT Championship, as they don’t have tons of time to find a contender to Andrade Cien Almas with Drew McIntyre on the shelf. If plans we’re always to have Almas go over Drew for the championship (and a call up for McIntyre), then they need to establish a solid babyface contender. I can see three potential feuds for Cien: Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano, or Roderick Strong. If they happen, you read it here first!
Keep an eye out for:
- What other pre-taped segments will air? Will we hear from Velveteen Dream? Oney Lorcan? Lio Rush?
- Will Lars Sullivan continue to dominate anyone in his path?
- Have we seen the last of the Authors of Pain in NXT? I hope so - not negatively. I feel like they’ve done exactly what they’ve needed to in NXT and there isnt much more. Have them wreak havoc on Raw or Smackdown! They have improved a ton in the ring, they know how to work a crowd, and they’ve still got lots of room to improve at such a young age.
- How will SAniTy respond to being the ones to take the pin in War Games? And how will the Undisputed Era respond?
