The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone once again, ending on March 1, at 3:00 PM EST. There were not as many blockbuster trades as last year, but between the NHL Off-Season and the nail-biting moments of the deadline approaching, no player was safe. While many thought their star players would be able to stay with their franchise, and make a household name for themselves, they were traded away during the off-season for a brand new player.
Only four teams had no trades or major transactions throughout the 2016-2017 season. Those teams are the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, and Winnipeg Jets. However, all other 26 teams in the league had some sort of trade before the deadline, some bigger than others.
Some names were traded that fans thought would never leave their franchise, but others that stuck around fans wanted to see leave. There were a lot of teams buying including the Los Angeles Kings, but also a lot of teams selling, including the Tampa Bay Lightning.
