Last week saw the return of live professional wrestling to both Calgary and Lethbridge for the first time since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the need to restrict ticket sales due to guidelines set out by the Alberta government, both Real Canadian Wrestling and Pure Power Wrestling hosted raucous crowds in their first shows in over four months. Not only that, but a pair of major announcements were made that should hopefully see Calgary begin to become a hotbed of professional wrestling once again.

Real Canadian Wrestling Announces Weekly Calgary Shows

Weekly wrestling is back in Calgary.

Following last week’s announcement of weekly Edmonton shows at the Norwood Legion, Real Canadian Wrestling has confirmed they will also begin running every Friday night in Calgary. As we first reported in September 2019, the promotion is set to run weekly in their current venue, the Royal Canadian Legion #1.

“This is a big move for RCW to bring weekly events to Calgary, but its well-known RCW is all about entertaining the great wrestling fans in Alberta,” said Real Canadian Wrestling promoter Steven Ewaschuk.

Workhorse Fitness Performance Center Re-Open

Last Saturday, June 27th, the Workhorse Fitness Performance Center reopened its doors full-time for the first time since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. The performance center, located at 2015 32nd Avenue in Calgary, not only boasts a state-of-the-art facility but world-class trainers including Leo Burke, Bruce Hart, “The Beast from the Middle East” Ali, Chris Knight and more.
