Fantasy Football: Winners and Losers Column for Week 16 is here!
The Week 16 Sunday games have concluded; it was a weird schedule this week due to the holidays with two Saturday games and no Sunday Night Football. Most weeks this article is written on Monday and will not include MNF - just as a heads-up reminder, due to the Holidays I won’t be including Monday games. For 16 week leagues the Fantasy Football finals have pretty much concluded; congratulations if you are a Champion!
The Fantasy Football Winner’s and Loser’s column provides users with the recent weeks winners and losers, while also including analysis of the previous weeks Fantasy performances.
- Disclaimer – All Fantasy Football articles are written with the information given by ESPN Standard PPR scoring.
The Winners
49.6 Fantasy Points
Toddy Gurley is officially historic. His 3 game stretch of 123.1 fantasy points is a NFL record. Gurley - who rushed 22 times for 118 yards - added 10 catches for 158 yards and two TD’s.
If you were lucky enough to have him on your roster during the playoffs, congratulations on your likely championship. 17 week formats will get Gurley against SF next week in a game that won’t mean too much for the Rams who have clinched a home playoff game.
Dion Lewis, RB
32.3 Fantasy Points
It’s hard to pick out of the group which New England RB is going to do well every week. This week, Dion Lewis was the man, with both Burkhead and White being hurt. Lewis dominated the backfield with 153 total yards, 5 receptions and two total TD’s.
Expect Lewis to carry the load next week as well if Burkhead and White aren’t able to go.
Jimmy Garoppolo, QB
22 Fantasy Points
It’s safe to say that it’s Jimmy G time in San Fran. Since taking over as the starter, Jimmy Garoppolo has lead the 49ers to 4 straight wins.
Although Garoppolo was matched up against the leagues best pass defense in the Jaguars, he still managed to throw for 242 yards and 2 TD’s. Jimmy brought up his point totals with a rushing TD early in the contest as well.
He’ll match up against a good Rams defense in Week 17.
Larry Fitzgerald, WR
27.7 Fantasy Points
Fans should be thankful that we still get to watch Fitz do his thing week after week. Larry Fitzgerald brought in 9 receptions for 119 yards and a TD in Week 16.
I’m personally thrilled we get to see him compete for at least one more year, and he’s a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Fame WR. Fitzgerald proved once again he can do anything throwing a 21 yard pass to Jaron Brown.

Jared Goff, QB
25.4 Fantasy Points
Goff keeps building on his incredible sophomore year, leading his Rams to an 11-4 record and a home playoff game. Goff threw for 301 yards and 4 TD’s on Sunday against the Titans. It’s truly amazing that the Rams can have such a dominate RB in Gurley and Goff manages to still be a fantasy stud.
Goff currently sits at QB11 going into a Week 17 match-up against the 49ers.
The Losers
Devonta Freeman, RB
5.6 Fantasy Points
Freeman was started in 92.8% of ESPN leagues; despite only getting 11 carries, three of those carries came on goal line opportunities and Freeman wasn’t able to capitalize. In fact, heactually did the opposite, fumbling the ball along the goal line.
Dez Bryant, WR
5.4 Fantasy Points
It’s a must-win game for the Cowboys in Ezekiel Elliott’s return. Dez Bryant simply didn’t show up, effected by the performance of Dak Prescott surely. Bryant posted a season low 5.4 fantasy points.
A match-up against the Eagles faces him in Week 17. The Eagles may rest players for the playoffs so expect Bryant to have a good week.
Brandin Cooks, WR
4.5 Fantasy Points
Brandin Cooks posted his second worst fantasy point performance of the year in Week 16, with his only worse performance coming against the same Bills team. New England dominated the ground game which limited the impact Cooks could make.
Cooks, who managed only 2 catches for 19 yards, will have a easier match-up next week against the Jets.
Kyle Rudolph, TE
1.6 Fantasy Points
Kyle Rudolph, who’s usually a safe bet start at TE week after week let roughly 60% of Fantasy Football owners down this week. Rudolph was only able to bring in 1 reception for 6 yards.
Rudolph could be in place to have a big Week 17 as the Vikings will clinch a first round bye with a win or a Panthers loss.
Adam Thielen, WR
4.4 Fantasy Points
It’s easy as this: if you’re in the fantasy playoffs there’s a good chance you are because of Adam Thielen. If you didn’t win the Championship there’s a good chance you didn’t because of Adam Thielen.
Thielen who averaged over 16 points coming into Week 15 has combined for a measly 10.4 points in two games since.
He’ll have a tough match-up next against the divisional Bears who have an above average defense.
