EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Prospects announced their official 2019 WCBL schedule on Monday, bringing the team one step closer to kicking off their first season under Jordan Blundell.
The regular season will begin for the Prospects on May 25th with a weekend series against the Lethbridge Bulls. The team will also face the rival Okotoks Dawgs prior to the calendar flipping to June, where the Brooks Bombers, Medicine Hat Mavericks and Fort McMurray Giants join the Bulls and Dawgs in visiting Edmonton.
July will likely prove to be the toughest test of the Prospects season, with the club running through 13 home games in 28 days. Those games include the first appearances of the Moose Jaw Miller Express and the Melville Millionaires in Edmonton in the 2019 season.
An additional date of note is July 7th, as the Prospects will host the annual WCBL All-Star Game at RE/MAX Field. “I can’t describe how thrilled we are that they’ve adopted our proposal to bring the WCBL All-Star Game to the great sports city of Edmonton in 2019 & 2020,” said Prospects team owner and managing partner Pat Cassidy in the league’s release announcing the game. “We know that our fans and baseball community will join with many new fans to make this a must-attend event in Alberta’s capital.”
Both the Prospects and the WCBL are currently working on the format and logistics for the All-Star Game, with announcements expected to be coming shortly.
Lastly, the league’s playoff schedule will commence on Thursday, August 8th with the Conference Semi-Finals.
