EDMONTON, AB: Alberta wrestling fans, this is one appearance you simply don’t want to miss.
Alex Hammerstone, the current MLW Openweight Champion, will be making a pair of appearances for Real Canadian Wrestling later this year in celebration of the promotion’s 17th anniversary.
The appearances are set to take place on May 22nd (Calgary) and 23rd (Edmonton).
“RCW is excited to be bringing another top-quality young talent to the great fans of Alberta,” commented RCW promoter Steven Ewaschuk to the WCSN. “We’re proud to be continuing to (feature) such amazing talents as Alexander Hammerstone, as he is one of the brightest stars currently on the scene.”
Hammerstone, 29, made his professional wrestling debut for Championship Wrestling from Arizona (CWFA) in 2013. Since first stepping foot inside the squared circle, the Glendale native has established a reputation as one of the most ruthless men in professional wrestling. His combination of sheer agility and brute strength has earned him 13 championships across eight different promotions including West Coast Pro Wrestling, PCW Ultra, and of course, MLW itself.
In February, Hammerstone made his inaugural appearance for Major League Wrestling. Just over a month later, he aligned with Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Richard Holiday in the Dynasty, kicking off a feud with the Hart Foundation members Brian Pillman Jr and Davey Boy Smith Jr. In fact, it was the former that Hammerstone defeated to become the inaugural MLW National Openweight Champion, defeating the second-generation star in the finals of a tournament to crown the title’s first champion. Currently, Hammerstone has held the title for 258 days.
The openweight stipulation is one more commonly found in Japanese professional wrestling. The belt’s nomenclature comes from the unique fact that any weight class of wrestler is eligible to challenge for the title.
Tickets for Real Canadian Wrestling’s 17th-Anniversary weekend are currently available through e-transfer or the promotion’s social media channels. VIP packages will start at $30, with general seating beginning at $20. Tickets will remain available at their current prices until February 18th. Following that date, tickets will be available at an increased cost. Additional tickets will be available at the door for an increased price.
