EDMONTON, AB: The Champ is, well, gone.
Kayla Jaye, the only three-time Real Canadian Wrestling Women’s Champion, announced this morning that she’ll be departing the promotion and relinquishing the RCW Women’s Championship.
“I want to thank everyone involved in my tenure in RCW,” said Jaye in her first statement since leaving the promotion. “The opportunity was incredible and I enjoyed my time there. The matches I was able to be involved with, and people I had the pleasure of meeting were incredible.
Jaye departs Real Canadian Wrestling as one of the top female stars in the promotion’s 16-year history. Since making her debut in mid-2018, Jaye has become the only three-time women’s champion in RCW history, earning that accolade at last month’s Oil City Rumble in Edmonton, Alberta. Marquee matches against the likes of Nicole Matthews and “The Vixen” Jade earned Jaye her reputation as one of Alberta’s finest; however, many will best remember her nearly year-long feud with Angelica that solidified the duo as two of Western Canada’s top workers.
An announcement on the crowning of a new RCW Women’s Champion will be made in the coming days, said RCW head promoter Steven Ewaschuk.
When asked where she may appear next, Jaye coyly replied: “in due time…but, I can promise it’ll be golden”
