The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) just wrapped up week two in their staggered start to their season. Living in Edmonton, I will be keeping an eye on the teams in close proximity to the Capital city in various levels. The league has a new boxscore keeping site which now allows fans who cannot be three places at once to follow along with their favourite teams. The efforts of this lacrosse fan will focus on the Senior B and Junior A circuits. All three Greater Edmonton Senior B teams played this past weekend with the Junior A St Albert Miners opening up that level of play this upcoming weekend. If your team is not one of the above four teams and you would like to cover them, HERE is your chance.

SENIOR B

Beaumont Outlaws 13 St. Albert Miners 9

The defending 3-peat National Champion St. Albert Miners were rudely welcomed to the 2019 season. The Beaumont Outlaws were their first opponent and they hammered home that the road to another championship will be filled with potholes charging out to a 7-1 lead after the 1st period. AJ Pellis opened the scoring 2:54 into the game and finished the dominant first quarter adding three assists. Chris Britton was in on 6 of the 7 Outlaws goals scoring two of them! Richard Lachlan of the Miners broke the shutout with 4:17 remaining in the opening period. Graedon Cornfield opened the scoring in the second period which saw the blowout turn into a 8-7 game. Lachlan finished the second period collecting three goals. 54 seconds into the 3rd, the Outlaws made it 9-7. Britton’s 4th goal of the game, his first on the powerplay and the Outlaws third PP goal of the evening, made it 10-7. Exactly a minute after the Outlaws made it 11-7, Darren Kinnear scored for the Miners hoping to start a run of the goals for the visiting, defending Champions. Cornfield’s hat-trick goal of the game was the last goal of the game for the Miners leaving the Champs short at 11-9. Late goals by Bryce Wells and Matt Mackenzie sealed the victory for the Outlaws who look to continue their positive trend in the win-loss category over the past couple seasons.

St. Albert Miners 11 Edmonton Warriors 5

Greg Bourret scored the first two goals of the Warriors season staking them to a 2-0 lead over the Miners who were held off the scoresheet until 6 seconds remained in the opening period. Tristen Friestad scored in the opening minute of the second period for the Miners. The Miners would score the only four goals of the second period taking a 5-2 lead into the third period. By the time the Warriors Bourret scored his hat-trick goal, the Miners had a 7-3 lead. A Dawson Reykdal powerplay goal with exactly three minutes remaining gave the Miners their 4-goal cushion back and ostensibly ended the game.

Beaumont Outlaws 8 Edmonton Warriors 3

Without the benefit of the boxscore site being updated at this early hour, all I have for you on this game is three tweets from the Outlaws.
