The Mae Young Classic has it’s second confirmed entrant, as WWE.com has reported that NXT Superstar Rhea Ripley will be competing in the event for the second time.
Ripley, 21, has been wrestling since 2013 when she debuted with Riot City Wrestling in Australia. She made her WWE debut in last year’s Mae Young Classic as the youngest competitor in the tournament. Ripley was impressive throughout her two matches in the tournament, earning a victory in the first round over Miranda Salinas before falling to current NXT star Dakota Kai in round two. Earlier this year, Ripley earned her first singles victory in NXT, defeating Aliyah on February 3rd.
While Ripley is the second confirmed entrant in this year’s tournament, a number of prominent female wrestlers have been rumoured to compete. Vernice Gabriel was rumoured to be participating in this year’s tournament according to PWInsider, though nothing has been confirmed by WWE yet.
