Not only is Albertan wrestling back, but it may be back with a heavier schedule than ever.
As we first reported in September 2019, Real Canadian Wrestling will begin running weekly events in Edmonton every Saturday, with last night’s Back to Business event representing the first of the shows.
The events, scheduled to take place at the Norwood Legion, will be known as the Saturday Night Fights. Bell time for each of the events will be 7:30 pm.
The commencement of weekly shows is certainly a bold step in the right direction from Real Canadian Wrestling. Though the timing may not be as fortuitous as either the promotion or Albertan wrestling fans may like, it’s definitely a huge opportunity for the promotion to gain a competitive advantage over promotions not currently running. At this point, only Lethbridge’s Pure Power Wrestling has confirmed their return following the Alberta government’s implementation of Phase Two restrictions, with PPW’s next event scheduled to take place on June 27th. With RCW essentially operating under a cornered market, now is certainly as good a time as ever to attempt to increase their already-impressive schedule.
As with any public gatherings for the foreseeable future, tickets for each of RCW’s upcoming weekly shows will be limited to 100/event. Additional safety precautions, including hand sanitizer, masks, and social distancing protocols, will also be in effect.
Thus far, there’s been no words on the promotion’s previously-announced weekly events in Calgary.
Tickets for any upcoming RCW events can be purchased through the promotion’s social media channels or the RCW Eventbrite page.
Stay tuned to the WCSN for more from RCW.
