As the author, I admit my knowledge is limited about Roller Derby aside from the fact that is an absolute blast to watch. My only experience comes back in 2007 when I was the Marketing Director for the Sherwood Park Junior B Titans (they’ve since leveled up to Junior A). On “Titans Day” we did a big event to raise funds to help in the fight against cancer. We had a dunk tank pregame, a couple of stunt bikers from Mud, Sweat and Gears in the first intermission and the Roller Derby Girls doing a demo in the 2nd intermission. I’m going to remind you that this was at a lacrosse game. The Derby Demo was rougher and tougher than anything I remember seeing in the game.

Asking yourself where you can learn more about Roller Derby? According to their website, “The best way to understand roller derby is to watch it! Come out and watch a game.” Here’s your chance Edmonton, the festivities begin at 5PM.

Check out the Oil City Roller Derby Facebook page for some pictures (one which I used for the cover) and videos and for more information.
