NXT Spoilers (February 2nd Tapings)

NXT starts the final build to TakeOver: New Orleans from Center Stage. After a taping that had the end of Johnny Gargano’s NXT Career, a UK Championship match between Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong, and a tornado tag between Undisputed Era and SAniTy, how will this set of tapings continue to build upwards towards their ‘Mania weekend TakeOver?

Filmed on February 2nd, there should be one more taping before the show – these only take us until March 14 and officially announce two matches.

This should go without saying, but Spoilers Ahead.

February 28th Episode

  • Kassius Ohno defeats John Skyler in what is the dark match of the show.
  • Nikki Cross defeats Vanessa Borne. Apparently this had to be re-taped, as Borne debuted a non-PG gimmick. If you’re curious, it seems inspired by 50 Shades.
  • Adam Cole over Cezar Bononi. Cole wins by offering Bononi a chance to join The Undisputed Era.
  • Velveteen Dream over Tyler Bate.
  • Shanya Baszler over Kairi Sane. Baszler cuts a promo saying she’s taking Ember Moon‘s title or taking a limb. The Queen of Spades apparently got some great heat.
  • Andrade Cien Almas (w/ Zelina Vega) cut a promo calling out Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. This brings out Aleister Black and Killian Dain. This ends with Killian standing tall.

March 7th

  • Richocet (!!!!!!!!!!) defeats Fabian Aichner with a 630. This is Ricochet’s NXT Debut.
  • William Regal announces the first three matches of the Dusty Rhodes.
  • Authors of Pain defeat TM61. Welcome back TM61.
  • Bianca Belair over local talent. I’m getting a bit tired of writing this.
  • Tomasso Ciampa, the evil bas**** he is, heads to the ring. He says nothing, getting “Reigns after Mania 33” levels of heat. He proceeds to rip up a Gargano sign and leaves after 5ish minutes of not saying a word.
  • Aleister Black defeats Killian Dain to become the #1 Contender to the NXT Championship.

March 14th

  • Street Profits def Heavy Machinery.
  • Tomasso Ciampa tries to cut another promo, but cant because of 1) the whole of Center Stage holding Johnny Gargano signs, 2) the fans throwing said signs at Ciampa, and 3) calling him a bit** and booing relentlessly. If this isn’t the feud of the year, I don’t know what is.
  • Dakota Kai over Lacey Evans. Baszler comes out after and tries to break Kai’s arm, but Ember Moon makes the save. This leads to announcement that the Moon-Baszler rematch is official at New Orleans. Moon and Baszler brawl again with the Queen of Spades getting the upper hand, until Dakota Kai gives Shanya a reciept.
  • SAniTy over Moss and Sabbatelli.
  • Pete Dunne over Adam Cole by DQ when Fish & O’Reilly interfere. They beat down Dunne until Roderick Strong makes the save. The Bruiserweight turns down a handshake from Roddy.
  • A contract signing for the NXT Title match is next, and it doesn’t go off smoothly (shockingly). Almas no-shows, only sending out Vega. Vega attacks Aleister Black, which brings out Candice LeRae to put some boots to asses.

Official TakeOver: New Orleans Card.

  • Andrade Cien Almas (C) vs Aleister Black for the NXT Championship.
  • Ember Moon (C) vs Shanya Baszler for the NXT Women’s championship

It’s also expected that the Undisputed Era will defend their tag team titles, a match between Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa, and one other match – likely the finals of the Dusty Rhodes.
