NXT Preview – War Games Fallout

Another fantastic NXT Takeover has passed, and now as Jay-Z would say, onto the next one. War Games was seriously fantastic, and now NXT has a ton of questions to be answered and new feuds to see! What will happen next? Only the man of 3 H’s will be able to tell you that!

Or spoilers, too. They might help.

But, another week, another preview! As always, I’m Parker Love – here with your weekly NXT Preview!

A refresher on the results of War Games, to begin:

  • Matt Riddle def. Kassius Ohno
  • Shanya Baszler retains the NXT Women’s Championship over Kairi Sane
  • Aleister Black def. Johnny Gargano
  • Tommaso Ciampa retains the NXT Championship over Velveteen Dream
  • Pete Dunne, Ricochet & War Raiders def. The Undisputed Era in War Games.

The Main Event

Candice LeRae made the argument that Nikki Cross has ruined their families lives after Cross revealed Gargano as Aleister Black’s attacker. Now, despite her husband admitting that he did attack Aleister, LeRae gets her shot at Cross.

While this will be a good match at the very least, it’s surprising to see Cross still remain in NXT. I thought she would be up by now for sure. Maybe this is the match that the black-and-yellow brand sends her off with? I can see Cross going out on her back to start to build up Candice as more than Mrs Gargano. Seeing how she still has a feud going with Bianca Belair though, I can see Cross getting a win here. My biggest question is if we begin to see Candice LeRae follow in her husbands’ footsteps over the next few weeks.

Other Segments

Seeing how this is a fallout show, expect a plethora of recaps and reactions from the carnage. My biggest question definitely remains what will happen with the ongoing Gargano – Ciampa storyline. I just really, really, really, really want to see Heel DIY.

The other two announced matches involve some of NXT’s behemoths. Keith Lee is in action, taking on fabled competitor “Local Talent”. Expect a few fun spots, a pounce, a catchphrase or two, and a win for the Limitless One. Hopefully, a feud that doesn’t involve Kona Reeves is up next for Lee. Fingers crossed!

As well, Lars Sullivan is in line for a singles match tonight, despite his impending debut on the main roster. His situation is strange. Apparently, Vince McMahon himself had the vignettes air early for him, but he’s certainly quite involved in NXT right about now. Last we saw of him, it seemed like he wanted another shot at the NXT Championship. But who knows, maybe we’ll get the vignettes to the Royal Rumble, a la Emmalina. Guess we’ll check it out.

Odds & Ends

Can’t. Stop. Watching. This. Spot.

  • What’s next for the Women’s title? We saw Kairi even the odds, with Io Shirai & Dakota Kai coming to help negate the horsewomen… but Shayna Baszler held onto the strap. Will the storyline continue? Or will we see another six-woman tag match and that be it?
  • Johnny Gargano’s new attitude didn’t get him a win over Aleister. What’s next for him? It’s a legitimately interesting story-line, and this author is excited about the next step.
  • The Knockout Artist Kassius Ohno got knocked out in seven seconds by Matt Riddle. Will we see KO respond?
  • Give EC3 something to do, please.
  • With ACH & Silas Young, are you interested in seeing either of these two in NXT?

That’s it for this week’s episode! Make sure to stay tuned to Win Column Sports by following us on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
