NXT Preview – September 26, 2018

After the dumpster fire that was RAW & a good-to-great episode of Smackdown, Wednesday night finally blesses us with the Mae Young Classic, 205 Live and – most importantly – NXT. Fresh off a brand new set of tapings (coming soon to Win Column Sports) – the third brand begins their build to War Games.

To begin, a recap of the September 19th episode.

  • Lacey Evans & Aliyah def. Dakota Kai & Deonna Purrazzo
  • Jaxson Ryker def. Humberto Carillo
  • Pete Dunne & Ricochet goes to a No-Contest when the Undisputed Era interfere. War Raiders makes the save.

As always, I’m Parker Love – here with your weekly NXT Preview!

The Main Event

Tommy Sports Entertainment is the main event.

Tommaso Ciampa makes his in-ring return after defeating Johnny Gargano in a Last Man Standing match. Champ-uh has a match scheduled with perennial main event player Otis Dozovic. Ugh. I could not care less about Heavy Machinery, sorry. Ciampa will win and who knows? Maybe we start to see a bit more about who will step up next?

Other Segments

William Regal plans on making an announcement regarding who attacked Aleister Black. The only person who seems to know for sure is Nikki Cross, but she’s not telling. I do love this story-line, and I do hope we get some more clues tonight.

A fresh new matchup awaits us again with the Street Profits taking on The Mighty. Even Finn Balor and Baron Corbin think this matchup is overdone by now.

NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane is in action tonight, taking on Vanessa Bourne. I do really dig Kairi as the champ: giving her a bit of an edge has made all the difference in the world. Keeping this momentum is vital for NXT. Now, former champ Shayna Baszler has announced her intentions for a rematch. But when will she get it?

Lars Sullivan will appear tonight and will destroy some things. While still a bit green in the ring, he’s improving every few weeks. The question is: who – or what – will he destroy next after taking out ECIII last week?

The Championship Scene

If you haven’t seen it, watch it now.

The UK Champion Pete Dunne and North American Champ Ricochet had a legitimate Match-of-the-Year contender on free TV last week. This roster is insane. These two do have unfinished business with The Undisputed Era, and more specifically Adam Cole. I just wonder why the Panama City Playboy wouldn’t wait until someone had TWO BELTS for him to compete for?!

Short note: If you read spoilers, Ciampa’s next potential feud would make a lot of people very happy.

The Champs are busy this week. Makes me have to write less, I’m not complaining too much!

My Thoughts

  • I think people forgot until this Monday how good The Revival actually are. Competing as babyfaces isn’t easy for them, but fuck – weren’t they fantastic?
  • What are your thoughts on The Forgotten Sons? I’m quite a fan – it’s always refreshing having a group similar to SAnitY on the roster.
  • Out of left field, how plausible is it that Velveteen Dream attacked Aleister? Gargano just seems too obvious at this point, Kassius Ohno seems to be heading to a feud with Matt Riddle, and I highly doubt it was Rikishi though I’ve been proven wrong on that theory before.

That’s it for tonight! What do you think about tonight’s episode? Let us know by commenting, or by following us on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
