NXT Preview: March 14, 2018

Well, it’s gonna be a busy one if anything! With a UK Championship match, two Dusty Rhodes quarterfinal matches, a contract signing, a women’s match, and a scheduled promo for Tomasso Ciampa, tonight episode should be packed. As always, I’m @Parkman15Love, here with your weekly NXT Preview!

Last Week’s Episode

The Main Event

After defeating Killian Dain with a Black Mass (outta nowhere!), Aleister Black is the new #1 contender to the NXT Championship. These two announced their intentions to challenge for the big X belt, and came out for a fight after Andrade Cien Almas decided to gloat. Now, it’s time for the fun part of wrestling – legal coverage! We’re getting a contract signing that will surely go off without a hitch. I mean, when have El Idelo and his associate Zelina Vega ever taken the low road?

Other Segments

Tomasso Ciampa is gonna take another swing at this one.

Now referring to the promo, we’re schedule to hear from Tomasso Ciampa after he tweeted out his intentions to speak. Honestly, I love this work from Ciampa. He’s rapidly become the biggest heel in NXT with probably the best twitter game in WWE. The decision to go “Reigns after Mania 33” on his promos is fantastic. What I hope for is a little more explanation of what he wants to do now that Johnny Wrestling is gone (as well, I want him to say he’s cleared). I would also love to hear an announcement from William Regal that he found some kayfabe way around this.

Two Dusty Rhodes matches will take place tonight. The first pits SAnitY against the living embodiment of communication issues, Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli. I don’t think anyone needs a crystal ball to realize who’s gonna advance here. Also taking place is Heavy Machinery vs. the Street Profits. This match will happen, and I really don’t have much of a vested interest. The winners go on to round two with the Authors of Pain.

Dakota Kai will take on Lacey Evans in Kai’s return to action after a Shanya Bazler attack. It’s definitely nice to see the women’s mid-card get some time, but I do feel they’ll continue to tie this into the ongoing Moon-Baszler storyline.

The Championship Scene

In great news, we’re getting Pete Dunne vs Adam Cole on free TV. Man, I love NXT. Being subtlety set up over a few months, it went over the line when Adam Cole (BayBay) criticized Roderick Strong and interrupted his show of respect to the Bruiserweight. Dunne was so kind to put his UK Championship on the line for this match, too. I absolutely love Dunne’s character – a definite tweener, willing to fight dirty, but just wants to kick peoples ass. I do feel like Cole needs a signature win though, as it doesn’t really feel like he’s done tons since winning War Games. Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but thought I would mention it. However, expect a great match between the two tonight.

Are we getting a transition from ReDragon to Future Shock? It looks like the Undisputed Era has run into a big problem with Bobby Fish’s injury. It looks like he’ll be out for the next few months, likely missing TakeOver. Now, will Cole step in with Kyle O’Reilly to defend the tag team titles? Or will we see the Undisputed Era grow a little more? I see Cole defending the tag belts in the Big Easy, with an eventual recruitment as the Panama City Playboy moves up the card.

Finally, Ember Moon’s been a bit quiet lately. Hopefully we hear from her tonight. This writer would personally love to see a triple threat in New Orleans. I feel that adding Kairi Sane to the rivalry between Moon & Baszler would add an interesting dynamic.

My Thoughts

  • Get well soon, Bobby Fish.
  • Continuing on my promise: Why hasn’t AOP been called up? RAW’s tag division has been so depleted that we’re going to see Braun take on the Bar.
  • They wouldn’t hold off on the Gargano-Ciampa match all the way until the next TakeOver, would they?!
  • Seeing Ricochet make his live event debuts is crazy. Plus the reaction he gets already is great.

That’s all I got folks! Will you be tuning into what’s sure to be a stacked episode? I know i’m gonna! Let me know what you think by tweeting me @Parkman15Love! Be sure to follow us on Facebook (HERE) or Twitter (HERE) as well!
