League of Legends first big event of 2019 is upon us. This year’s tournament is going to be in Hanoi, Vietnam. All the regions have finished the first half of their respective seasons and MSI is the culmination of all the effort those teams put in the first half of the year. MSI is one of my favorite Esports events of the year. It’s personally cool seeing the best teams in each region fight against each other in one event. We only get to see it twice a year.

Here’s the standings after Day 1.

Over the course of the next two weeks. We’ll be going day by day giving our predictions and short thoughts over the days matches. Here’s Day 2.

Perkz has proven in the first day of MSI that despite only playing 6 months of ADC. He’s capable of carrying this G2 team late into the tournament. G2 had the toughest start to MSI facing SKT and iG in Day 1. They would split those games beating SKT but losing to iG. TL on the other hand was the complete opposite. They had the easiest start to Day 1. So it’s tough to gauge how they will do. We will see by the end of the day.

My prediction: G2 Esportslogo square.png

Matchup to watch: Perkz vs Doublelift

Phong VÅ© Buffalologo square.png vs Flash Wolves logo.png

Somebody is going to get their first win of MSI as both of these teams went 0-2 during Day 1. Albeit both teams had tough schedules. I think the experience of being on this stage will proof to be valuable for Flash Wolves and they will take their first win. Not much analysis on this one, it should be a close game, but might not be a good game.

My prediction: Flash Wolves logo.png

Matchup to watch: Hanabi vs Zeros

Team Liquidlogo square.png vs Invictus Gaminglogo square.png

TL plays their second game of the day rather early as they’ll face off against the champions of the LPL iG. iG look strong in this tournament and will not be an easy out. TheShy is simply the best player in the world right now in my opinion. If you have the best player in the world on your team, it gives you an advantage right out of pick/ban.

My prediction: Invictus Gaminglogo square.png

Matchup to watch: TheShy vs Impact

Phong VÅ© Buffalologo square.png vs SK Telecom T1logo square.png

I’m sorry Vietnam faithful. Your team isn’t going to get their first win against the Champions of Korea. SKT isn’t a team that plays down to their opponents level and I fully expect them to walk through PVB. Except Faker to silent the home crowd quickly.

My prediction: SK Telecom T1logo square.png

Matchup to watch: Clid vs XuHao

Flash Wolves logo.png vs G2 Esportslogo square.png

The Flash Wolves will probably get their first win of the day against PVB in the early game. They won’t rattle off two wins in a row though as G2 will win this match. The pure talent on G2 will be enough to carry them through the Flash Wolves. I expect Caps to have a big game here. MSI is going to be a coming out party for Caps.

My prediction: G2 Esportslogo square.png

Matchup to watch: Caps vs Rather

SK Telecom T1logo square.png vs Invictus Gaminglogo square.png

The last game of the day and easily the best game so far this tournament. The Champions of Korea vs the Champions of China. Korea and China have been in a fierce rivalry over the past couple years. Mainly because they are the only two nations that can beat each other. Rookie vs Faker. JackeyLove vs Teddy. TheShy vs Khan. Pick your posion, no matter what lane you enjoy watching you will get an all-star calibre matchup.

My prediction: Invictus Gaminglogo square.png

Matchup to watch: JackeyLove vs Teddy
