The Edmonton Stingers basketball club are not limiting themselves to just the Edmonton Expo Centre. This upcoming Saturday the Stingers will be doling out free hot cocoa and coffee at the Edmonton Ice Castles between 1PM and 5PM.
The Stingers recently just announced their first ever head coach. Barnaby Craddock brings a successful history at the University of Alberta with him and looks to bring that winning pedigree to the Stingers. The first year Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) will be holding a U SPORTS draft mid-March. The team’s first game will be a home game at the Edmonton Expo Centre on Friday May 10th, 2019 at 7PM. Want more information on the club? Here is our information packed write-up on their big reveal (link) and here is a LINK to their website.
The Edmonton Ice Castles are in their 4th year in Edmonton setting up shop at Hawrelak Park. If you have never been to the Ice Castles, they truly are a spectacle to behold. I have been there each of the first three years and every time it is just a little bit different. It is not just towering amounts of ice, it truly is art. The Castles are constantly being reshaped (by hand) by the artists as the weather changes the original design of the Castles.
Embedded inside the thick walls of ice are beautiful lights that change colours. To keep the young ones amused, there has always been an ice slide to go down and an ice thrown to pose on. There is a heating station on the inside of the Castles. Think about that for a second – a heating station inside an Ice Castle!
For tickets to the ice Castles visit their website (LINK). Be sure to book your tickets between 1PM and 5PM this Saturday to have Edmonton Stingers representatives give you some free hot cocoa and coffee. Brings your toques and mitts and basketball related questions out to Hawrelak Park.
