Saturday at the World Cup had three matches on as the tournament gets into full swing.

The first match of the day had Costa Rica, who had a fantastic World Cup in 2014, play against Serbia in a low scoring tight match to kick off Group E. The next match saw a bit of an upset as the reigning World Cup holders playing against Mexico, with Mexico scoring the decisive goal. The final match of the day finished off Group E with one of the favourites Brazil get held to a draw against Switzerland.

 Costa Rica 0 - Serbia 1

Group E started out with a crucial match to both sides as they look to pick up points to get through to the round of 16. In the end, it was settled with a fantastic freekick from Kolorav to pick up the valuable 3 points.

Next up Costa Rica will face off against Brazil, while Serbia will play Mexico on Friday.

Germany  0 - Mexico 1

In the group F kick-off there was a battle between two strong teams. The reigning World Cup champion Germans were looking to get the tournament off to a good start, while Mexico was looking to pull off a slight upset and get points off of Germany. The first half had tons of action with some back and forth chances. Mexico was able to strike first, with Lozano cutting in on his right foot and beating Neuer at his near post.

The second half had the reigning world champions putting on pressure trying to search for the equalizing goal. They pressed hard and has possession but it was Mexico who was wasteful with their odd-man counter attacks. Despite all the pressure, Germany was unable to score the tying goal.

Next up Mexico will play South Korea and Germany will play Sweden. Both games take place on Saturday.

Brazil 1 - Switzerland 1

The final match of the day and the other match for Group E  had one of the favourites of the tournament playing against Switzerland. Brazil started off strong as Coutinho scored on a curler from outside the box in the 20th minute.

In the 51st minute, Switzerland level up the score with a header from Zuber in tight off Shaqiri corner.

Despite Brazil having a larger amount of chances in the match, Switzerland remained resilient and held Brazil just to one goal and leaving the match with a draw.

Next up Brazil will square off against Costa Rica on Friday while Switzerland will play Serbia on Friday as well.
